About this site
Laadkostencalculator.be is your reliable partner for calculating charging cost reimbursements for electric vehicles and plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHEV) in Belgium. Our calculator is fully based on official CREG tariffs and helps employees, employers and accountants with correctly calculating home charging reimbursements.
Officieel CREG Tarief
CREG Regulation
CREG (Commission for Electricity and Gas Regulation) establishes official tariffs every quarter for reimbursing home charging of company cars. These tariffs vary per region and per quarter, and are legally mandatory for calculating charging cost reimbursements in Belgium.
PHEV-ondersteuning: Our calculator supports both fully electric vehicles (BEV) and plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHEV). For PHEV vehicles, reimbursement is calculated based on the kWh charged at home according to CREG tariffs, regardless of whether you drive electrically or on fuel.
Regionale verschillen: Belgium has different electricity tariffs per region. Our calculator automatically accounts for differences between Flanders, Wallonia and Brussels, so you always calculate the correct reimbursement according to your residence or charging location.
Nauwkeurigheid: All calculations are based on the most recent CREG publications and are regularly updated. Our method follows official guidelines and is suitable for fiscal and accounting purposes.
Privacy & Data Processing
We respect your privacy. All calculations happen locally in your browser and your charging data is not stored on our servers. Your data remains completely private and under your control.
Complete guide to electric charging in Belgium
Everything you need to know about home charging electric and hybrid vehicles, CREG reimbursements and cost savings.
Types of electric vehicles
BEV
Fully electric vehicles (BEV) run exclusively on electricity and must be charged regularly. They are eligible for full CREG reimbursement for all home charging sessions.
PHEV
Plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHEV) combine an electric motor with a combustion engine. They can be charged at home and are eligible for CREG reimbursement for the charged electricity, regardless of whether you drive electrically or on fuel.
HEV
Hybrid vehicles (HEV) cannot be charged externally and are not eligible for CREG reimbursements as they have no home charging capability.
Home charging: options and costs
- Wallbox: Wallbox/charging station: Fastest and safest option (3.7-22kW). Installation by certified electrician required. Costs: €500-2000 plus installation.
- Regular outlet: Regular outlet: Slowest option (2.3kW), suitable for emergencies. Check if your installation is suitable for prolonged high consumption.
- Reinforced outlet: Reinforced outlet: Between regular outlet and wallbox (3.7kW). Safer than regular outlet, cheaper than wallbox.
Cost optimization
- Use night rate: Charge as much as possible during off-peak hours (usually 22:00-06:00) when electricity is cheaper.
- Solar panels: Combine with home charging for maximum savings. Surplus can be used for car charging.
- Smart charging control: Automatic charging during cheapest hours, avoids peak loading and optimizes costs.
Practical tips
- Separate meter: Consider a separate electricity meter for your charging station for accurate cost allocation.
- Charging apps: Use apps from your charging station (Smappee, Alfen, etc.) to track and export sessions.
- Administration: Keep all charging data and invoices for tax returns and CREG reimbursement.
